Once upon a time there were four friends.
Carl: A man of little action and much heart.
Dean: A man of little height and much loyalty.
Vince: A man of great endeavour and strength.
Ian: A miserable git!
As the four friends approached middle age they became more aware of the frailties of human life and sought challenges to test their physical and mental fortitude. These challenges were set, agreed to and often executed with the help of their constant, unfailing crutch: Alcohol.
In 2009 this brave quartet cycled 106 miles from Wales to Lancashire and raised over £1600 for charity. Now the stakes are raised. With 10 days and 1000 miles of arse-numbing effort ahead of them these intrepid travellers plan to finish their ride in time for Dean’s 40th birthday!
On the journey they will face hardships (such as which B&B to stay at), difficult choices (curry or fish and chips for tea), fatigue (caused by Ian’s snoring), aching body parts (eg. ears, caused by Ian’s constant moaning) and sickness (have you seen the state of Vince’s feet?) But throughout all this they will persevere and persist. They will rise to the challenge, and meet it with fortitude and a indomitable spirit. They will be able to proudly boast to their children and grandchildren that once, when they were much younger, they did something completely ridiculous!
